Halloween's almost here!!

I can't believe how quickly October is flying by. I'm obviously not very good at keeping up on my blogging since I haven't posted anything for almost two months!! Honestly, we just haven't done anything too exciting to talk about.

As Halloween approaches, Riley keeps asking me if it's Halloween yet. Once he got his costume (he's going to be a Storm Trooper), he figured that Halloween must be close. He started asking every night if he could put his costume on and go outside Trick or Treating. Finally, to stop the questions, I decided to make him a countdown so he could see exactly how many days left until Halloween. This has seemed to work pretty well until today, he took his Tootsie Roll and then he brought me one too! I guess he's trying to make Halloween come a little sooner.

Something exciting for today is that my Mom's finally coming home!! My Mom has been gone for 9 weeks. She's been in Virginia taking care of my Grandma (she broke her hip) and my Aunt Polly (she was diagnosed with Lymphoma). I know I don't see my mom all of the time, but I can't believe how much I've missed her just knowing that she wasn't there for me to go see. I guess I can never move too far away. One thing I've really missed is that Cody and my Dad have season tickets to the BYU games and my Mom usually comes with my Dad and we get to hang out. I've really missed that time together. I'm glad she'll be able to come this weekend, I can't wait to see her. WELCOME HOME MOM!!

Colleen, Mike, Abbie and Aimee said...: So glad to see an update! I check often and was wondering if you fell off the planet! I haven't been very good at keeping my updated. I found out about 4 weeks ago that we have to move out of our townhome. It was a huge shock, so all of our energy has been finding a new home and packing! I did post a fun "wife" quiz...take it and let me know how you score...fun!

I love the countdown idea! Abbie doesn't quite "get" it yet, but I am going to check out the website for future projects!

Waiting for Holidays is torture for little kids. Clayton is going to be a dog and had worn his costume already many times, my one rule, it cannot leave the house until Halloween. Talking about Riley's new pet fish

Cody: Are we sure that our fish didn't just lay eggs?

Riley: You mean my fish was married before we got it?

Me: That's right Riley we just took her away from her husband. :)

Riley saying his prayers -

Riley: "Please bless the fossils."

Me: "Who are the fossils?"

Riley: "Daddy says bless the fossils."

Me: "What?"

Riley: "He says, bless the prophet and the fossils."

Riley: "Hey Mom, why does the toilet paper have flowers on it?"
Me: "I don't know, to make it look cute."
Riley: "It doesn't look very cute after I wipe my bum." (11/09)

This weekend my Mom and I went to Swiss Days and we took Riley with us. (If you don't know what Swiss Days is, it's a big outdoor craft fair.) After we had gone down a couple of aisles Riley said, "Hey Mom, I had a good idea. How 'bout we leave this place and go to a store with boy stuff." Later, after he got some marbles he said, "Can we come to this place another time?" After I asked why he said, "So I can get some other stuff." As we left I told him that I know it wasn't much fun and he said, "Yes it was, we need to tell Dad how much fun we had." It's funny how a kids view can change after getting cotton candy and marbles. :) (09/09)

Now that we know the baby's a boy, Riley came to me and said, "Mom, I think we should name the baby Cameron. Because I have a friend named Cameron and I think that would be a good name. Then we could call him Cameron 2." He said as he held up two fingers. That's a nice name Riley but we already have a Camden in the family, so I don't think so. (9/09)

I met one of the girls I visit teach and she's from Peru. She told me that her English isn't very good. I told her that I speak only a little spanish. Then Riley chimed in and said, "Uno, dos, tres, cuatro, cinco." I guess he had to show off the little spanish that he knows. She thought he was the cutest thing. (08/09)

At church, Riley had to walk a long ways to pass the sacrament to the family sitting on our row. When it came to the water we had him put one hand under the tray while holding the tray with the other hand. Then we told him to walk carefully. He walked very slowly and when he came back to sit down he said, "I went SLOW and STEADY." (06/09)

The week of Memorial Day we were able to hang out with Cody's parents at a condo in Park City. One night Cody took Riley to the hot tub. While they were sitting in the hot tub, Riley put his little arms up on the side of the tub and laid his head back and said, "Ahhhhh, this is the life." (05/09)

Riley created a little rock store and he asked me if I wanted to buy a rock. After a picked up a few coins I walked outside to see his store. I asked him how much a rock was and he said, "5 bucks." I told him I didn't have any bucks I only had some coins. Then I asked about another rock and he told me, "That one's too expensive." (05/09)

Watching Adam Lambert sing on American Idol. Riley, "Is that a boy or a girl?" Me, "Boy" Riley, "Then why does he have lady eyes? He has black stuff on his eyes." A minute later after watching Adam sing some more, "He's weird." (05/09)

Getting ready to go to Idaho, "Mom, I don't want to take the blue car, let's take the jeep. It's faster." Me, "It's not faster." Riley, "Yes, it is. When me and daddy were in the jeep, we went faster than you." (4/09)

"I don't like lady songs. I like boy songs, they rock. I want to be a rock star." (3/09)

This weekend we were looking at homes. We went into one beautiful and big home and Riley said, "I love this house." Then we were looking at the master bedroom's walk in closet and we were teasing him and said that he could sleep in there it was so big. The next room we went to, we opened the closet and he said, "Mom, I could sleep in there with my sleeping bag." Sad thing is, he was serious. I think he wants a new home just as much as we do. After explaining to him that Daddy is Grandma's baby he said, "Oh yeah, Mommy popped me out!" (02/09)
